Guest post and a Giveaway!!!

Hi everyone! If you've been following B's house build over at the Decorating Forum you have probably seen me hanging around putting in my two cents worth as well. If not, my name is Anna and I'm an online interior designer based in Queensland.

As you all know B has a beautiful house so I was very excited to get the chance to help her on her formal living space. This area is to be used for entertaining so plenty of seating was a must. We also had to deal with the large windows, and angled double entrance doors to the room.

The Design Process
If you haven't used an online designer before, the process is pretty simple. You send me some photos of your space and the room measurements. You also fill out a three page questionnaire which asks you what you like and dislike and other questions which helps me learn more about you. After a couple of weeks I post you a 'Design Kit' in the mail;  a folder which contains a full design plan including details on what to buy (and why that particular piece works), where to put it, how much it costs and where to purchase everything from.

The great thing about these plans is it means you can work in your own time on the room, as your time and budget allows. Once you read the kit you should also have a good idea of why certain styles or pieces will work, which allows you to find alternative options at other shops, secondhand stores or even around your own home.

My Suggestions for B
Enough about that though...let's have a look at B's kit! First off, we discovered B's style was contemporary, clean lined with a little touch of vintage. She listed some of her inspirations as Jen from Made by Girl and Moth Design.

Although these images are gorgeous, B didn't want everything to be white (this is the real world after all!). Here is the moodboard I came up with...

The fabric for the sofas is actually a champagne-beige-grey tone (a bit lighter than pictured here, but with a variegated tone to help hide potential stains).

The kit runs through all the items used here and why the work in the space, as well as tips on pulling everything together. I also came up with a layout...
