Please, please, please do yourself a favor and go watch the Eagle Cam. All day and all night, 24/7, there are camera’s fixed on this 1 1/2 ton Eagle’s nest where a mommy and daddy Eagle take turns sitting on their eggs—sometimes you can catch them switching positions… or fighting off raccoons… or bringing each other half a piglet. Sweet, right?
The Eagles have been together since the winter of 2007, and this will be their fourth set of eaglets. I am completely obsessed with them. I keep it on in a separate tab on my web browser, and check in with them frequently throughout the day. Better than reality TV, I tell ya. And no danger of these Eagles taking their babies out to the lake and drowning them because they just can’t handle parenthood anymore. Nature does it right, you know? Animals and birds know their duties and tend to them without complaint—they would give their lives for their families… or just sit on eggs for what must be an extremely long and boring day… after day after day.
We could all learn a lot from the Eagles. Plus it’s just fun to feel like you’re a part of the miracle, even when it’s world’s away. Check it out.
