Cresthaven Kid's Room

I can't believe I am posting the last room in the model home! It's been so fun to share this home with you. For a look at the past room reveals go here

Today I'm sharing my favorite room. The budget for the kids' room was $1,000 and I think we came in under budget! It was actually pretty easy to stick to the budget with this room because we didn't need a lot of furniture. And the furniture that we did use we got for a great deal.

Here is the board I created for the room.

I wanted the room to feel gender neutral. There are elements that are a little more "boy" and elements that could be translated as "girl". This scheme would work well for a shared bedroom.

Here is how the room turned out!

Striped Duvet: West Elm
Metal Red Headboard: This was a great find on Craigslist. I think we got it for around $15.

Paint Color: Benjamin Moore Del Mar Blue

Dream Big Pillow: Robin and Mould on Etsy
Chevron Pillow: I used the leftover fabric from Jett's headboard for this pillow. The pillow was sewn by Local Utah Seamstress Alli Middleton alliemp07@live.com

Red Lamp: Target
Be Nice Print: Sarah Jane Studios
Toy: Home Again Consignment
Nightstand: I found this at Savers over a year ago for $15! I've been saving it and saving it for something and I love how it looks in this kid's room. We just gave it a fresh coat of white paint.

Bird Mobile: Donated by Annie's Mobile Boutique

ABC Letters: These were Christmas ornaments from Anthropologie that I got after Christmas for $2 a piece! I just took the ornament hooks off.

To me the real star of the room is the roman shade. This was our "splurge" in the room. The fabric is Arbre Chinoise in Meadow by Schumacher

Rocking Chair: Vinnie White Cradle Chair from Overstock
Goldfish Pillow: Digs
Stacking Boxes: I bought these at Serena and Lily on sale for $30 but they are no longer available.

Green Stool: Home Again Consignment

Thank you for all your comments and support with this home. It was a really fun experience for me. There are a lot of things that made it hard. Being sick during my first trimester really put the project on hold for a few months. It was such a great feeling to finally finish the project. Some days I thought it would never get done!

I also have to say that I could never have completed this without my amazing interns. Thanks to Haley, Kayley and Carly for their help with the home.

And also the wonderful Jylare for taking all the pictures!

Cresthaven Master Bedroom

So far I've shared the Living Room, Dining Room and Basement that I designed for the model home. Today I'm sharing the Master Bedroom with you.

I love designing bedrooms so I was pretty excited about doing the Master Bedroom. Here is the board I created for the room.

Our budget was $1,600 for this room. This is wasn't a lot considering we needed a bed, dresser and two nightstands plus all the extra stuff!

The inspiration for this room was really centered around the Arianne duvet cover from Pottery Barn. I loved the colors in it.

I actually bought one queen duvet cover and had Kristen from Blue Spindle cut it up to make two decorative pillows for the bed as well as curtains. One queen size duvet really goes along way! For $149 plus the cost of sewing we got 2 curtain panels and 2 throw pillows.

One of the biggest challenges in this room was finding a bed in the budget. I knew I wanted an upholstered bed and preferably a fully upholstered bed not just the headboard.

I stumbled across this Costco Nailbutton Upholstered Bed  for around $600 and I knew it was the one! (We ordered the queen but it doesn't look like that size is available anymore).

Sunburst Mirror: $25 on sale at Hobby Lobby

Greek Key Sham: Jennifer Lopez Shams from Kohl's (The shams are from this collection but it doesn't seem like they are available anymore.)
Floral Pillows: Made from the Arianne Queen Duvet Cover from Pottery Barn. Sewn by Blue Spindle.
Tan Lumbar: Blue Spindle
White Duvet Cover: I found this Pearl Embroidered Duvet Cover from Pottery Barn on sale at DownEast for $25.

Nightstands can be SO expensive so we tried to get creative and stay within the budget. We bought the Rast Chest from Ikea and had it painted blue. Then we ordered 12 of these  from O'verlays and I spray painted them gold. The hardware is from here
Lamps: Hobby Lobby
Plant: Target

Curtains: Made from the Arianne Queen Duvet Cover from Pottery Barn. Sewn by Blue Spindle
Pink Quilt: Punch Diamond Quilt from Serena and Lily

Dresser: Hemnes Dresser from Ikea
For artwork above the dresser I framed this paper from Paper Mojo.

Love Print: Donated by Good Girl Gone Glad

Rose Print: I cut this out of an old Snow and Graham calender I had.

Watercolor Floral Print: Birds of Ashmae
Floral Vase: Anemone Mezzo Vase from Anthropologie

Paint color is Hazy Skies by Benjamin Moore

Cresthaven Basement

So far I've shared the Living Room and Dining Room that I designed for the model home. Today I am sharing pictures and sources from the basement.

Our budget for the basement was $2,200. This needed to include a sofa, rug, barstools, toy storage, chair, media piece and accessories. It was not an easy task. We were able to find some great deals on the sofa, rug and t.v. piece.

This fabric was the inspiration for the room.

Sew Hip and Humble made some beautiful pillows for the sofa and we pulled out the tan and blue from the fabric for the rest of the room.

Bleeker Pillow: Donated by Elegant Touch
Tan Pillows: Blue Spindle
Blue Pillow: Blue Spindle
Floral Blue Pillows: Sew Hip and Humble

Cresthaven Dining & Kitchen

Last week I shared the Living Room I did for the model home and this week I'm sharing the Dining and Kitchen area. Here is the mood board I create for the space.

Our budget for the dining room and kitchen was $1,000. I think I went over about $100 on this room. If we had been able to afford it I would have loved to have done curtains in here as well and add more accessories and a backsplash to the kitchen. I think for $1,000 I did the best I could with this space.

Rug: Safavieh Dhurries Light Blue Rug from Wayfair | I actually scored this rug for a little cheaper on Joss & Main.

My intern Kayley found these lamps on Craigslist for $25 each. I had the fabric from the living room pillows matched at Lowes to get that great salmon color. I painted them myself using this tutorial. I tried and tried to find new shades but we ran out of time. I find that finding the perfect lamp shade is sometimes impossible. So we made do with what we had.

Sideboard: Isala Sideboard from Ikea

Coral Artwork: Z Gallerie I don't think it's available anymore. We got them for $79 each.

Orchid: Pier 1

We got the table on sale at DownEast for $175! It's originally from Pottery Barn.

Chairs: Ingolf Chair from Ikea

The barstools were a great find on Craigslist. We got them for $15 each!

Rug: Kite Kilim Rug from West Elm | We scored this rug for a great deal on sale a few months ago.

Urchin: Donated by Honeymoon at Home

Chalkboard Jars: Pier 1

Cresthaven Living Room

I wanted the overall feel of the model home to be breezy and fresh feeling. Basically I wanted it to be different from most model homes that you see in Utah. My client and I fell in love with Benjamin Moore's Palladian Blue after seeing it used by Caitlin Creer. So we based the room off of that. This is the first time in my life I have ever started a room with paint color rather than fabric. It was a little tricky but we were able to pull it all together with a raspberry, yellow and blue color scheme.

Here is the mood board I created for the Living Room.

Our overall budget was around $2,000 for the room. We were able to get some great deals on the pieces in this room and a few items donated by Etsy sellers. For this room we stayed pretty much on budget.

Here it is!

Rug: Rugs USA Homespun Chevron Rug in Light Blue  We got it for a great deal. Rugs USA has amazing sales all the time.

American Beauty Print: Donated by Laura Mae Dooris
Floral Watercolor: Birds of Ashmae

Wicker Chair: T.J. Maxx
Silver Lamp: T. J. Maxx
Pink Pillow Cover: Sewn by Local Utah Seamstress Alli Middleton alliemp07@live.com

Yellow and White Striped Curtains: Sewn by Blue Spindle
These curtains are my favorite part of the room. They were made by one of my best friends. She does such a great job! Her shop, Blue Spindle, is offering %15 off all pillow orders for one month using code krason2012.

Media Cabinet: Reflections Collection from Home Decorators Collection
Gray Side Tables: Ikea Lack Tables

Crystal Lamp: Target
White Flowers: Target
Pink Pillow: Sewn by Blue Spindle
As mentioned above Blue Spindle is offering %15 off all pillow orders for one month using code krason2012.

Floral Pillows: Donated by Woody Liana

Sofa: Chloe Velvet Sofa from Macy's
This sofa is really great! I think for $600 it's a steal. It's comfortable and has such a classic shape.
Silver Side Table: T.J. Maxx

I'll be posting more rooms in the weeks to come!
