Antique leather armchair Makeover Reveal!

And here it is, one of the armchairs painted in black. What do you think? Any tips on how to style it would be greatly appreciated. I was thinking white cushions with black prints, but the armchair is looking pretty black as it is so maybe I should go with some colour? But I'd still like the colours to be as neutral as possible so they can blend in with our future colour choices... If at all possible?

Cinema doors - painted at last!

A couple of weeks ago MrB painted the cinema doors. It was my birthday present, and I am over the moon! The entrance looks so much brighter and cleaner, and I cannot wait to have the rest of the doors painted. Perhaps before my next birthday? Time will tell :)

Meals table makeover - REVEAL

Remember my meals table post? Well MrB finally got around to spray painting it earlier this week. He used the same paint as for the skirting boards and internal doors, glossy Whisper White.

Here it is :)

Initially we thought it made the space TOO white, but are now getting used to it. Do you think it would have looked better in black? MrB tells me he will paint it black if that's what I want...

I wish flowers could last longer than they actually do :(

Baby steps... First internal doors - PAINTED

MrB painted the garage/shopper's entry and powder room doors & frames/architraves over the weekend. We fixed them back last night. They look amazing! They are gloss Vivid White. I love how they blend in with the walls. It looks very unusual after living with ugly doors for over a year. I am really looking forward to having them all painted :) - it will take a long time though ...

Oh, and our downstairs powder room vanity benchtop was installed on Friday and the plumber installed the tap and undermount basin this morning. Can't wait to get home and take some photos to share with you :)

What colour to paint the architrave around our glossy black doors?

If everything goes according to plan, MrB will be painting the front doors, frame and door step this weekend. The doors and frame will be glossy 2 pack black, and the wooden door step will be stained. (By the way, any recommendations as to what product to use?)

My main concern now though is what colour to paint the architrave on the inside, surrounding the door? The rest of the doors, architraves and skirting boards will all be white (well, gloss Whisper White to be exact). But since our front doors will be black both on the outside and inside, does that mean the architrave around the door should also be black? Or will it look perfectly fine if it's white, the architrave that is? I am confused, as usual... :(

Some action - at last :)

We've had some progress around the house :)

MrB painted the portico ceiling after work during the week and it's looking great. So much fresher!

He also fixed our old washing machine which had been sitting in the laundry since it blew up few months ago. It was only 4 years old and I won't go into the reasons as to why it blew up :)
We immediately bought a replacement one (exactly the same one as we were so happy with the original one) and planned on fixing the old one so I can have both darks and whites going at the same time.
Well we've now got two perfectly functioning washing machines and I am mega excited!

Also, I've booked the tiler for Sunday to finish off the laundry tiling. So excited that we are finally getting somewhere :)

But the thing is, I am unsure of how best to lay out the tiles, whether to go all symetric like we did in all the bathrooms, and have cuts on either ends... Or do we just start off at one end with un-cut tiles ....

Does this look ok? Whole tiles in the corner, and then cut ones near the architrave? The benchtop is 600mm wide and the tiles are 300x300 so along the short side it will perfectly fit 2 complete tiles.

Bulkheads (painting progress - continued :)

More priming pics from Sunday :)

I must add that all the bulkheads in the house (including the ones below) were built by my man :)

Painting progress

Here are some priming progress pics taken on Sunday :)

Standing in the sitting room, facing south. Double doors to the righ lead into the foyer, the two "openings" next to that will have glass inserts in them.

Standing in the meals area, facing north, dining room right in front of me, and then sitting room in front of the window.

Standing in the kitchen, facint north, towards the foyer and sunspace upstairs.
Cornice in the foyer :)

Standing in the kitchen, facing north. The little door on the left, and underneath the staircase will be our pantry. The door to the right leads into the foyer, and on the right is the dining room and further up the sitting room.

Standing in the family room, again facing north. The kitchen is on the left, to the right of the kitchen will be the meals area, further up the dining room, and right next to the window - the sitting room.
