Project Sneak Peak

I'm so excited! I recently received the pictures back from a photo shoot Jessica Kettle did for me a few weeks ago of some rooms I finished. I'll hopefully be sharing one of the projects this week or next.

Get excited...

also thanks to Jenny for featuring my living room on her blog today!

E-design Before and After

My cute client Holly came to me with a living room that was in desperate need of some life. It also needed to function as a living room/foyer. She needed some kind of surface for keys and other odds-and-ends.

Here is the before.

She sent me this as her inspiration picture.

via House Beautiful

We both liked the earthiness of the room. We wanted to capture this room but on a much tighter budget.

Here is what I came up with.

We decided to solve the problem of the lack of an entryway by using this nook in her room for a console table. She had another sofa there before because she wanted seating. So we swapped the sofa for two  chairs.  She also painted tone on tone stripes in the nook. This is like a fun little surprise in the room.

Erin made us some beautiful chevron draperies. The ikat pillow is from World Market.

Holly was a dream to work with. This room goes to show that small updates can go far!

Pure White Saturn powerpoints for our kitchen island

Not much has happened at the house lately. Mr B has been too busy working on his car ... He did buy and replace a couple of Pure White Saturn power point covers for our island though... They look great, don't you think? Pitty about all our Dynamic Label Technology (DLT) switches and touch screens which will have to stay saturn white as we can't afford to buy the Pure White ones ....

I am off to Melbourne tomorrow for work :( ... but so wish I could just spend the time in Blogland instead...

Wish we could afford to replace all our Saturn White DLTs with these Pure White ones...

Pure White version of the touch screens...

Ta-Da!

Guess what! My powder room is done! Finally. If you follow me on Facebook then you saw a sneak peak a few weeks ago.

I feel like it's been a long time coming. Back in May I posted a few different options for wallpaper. Thank you to Walls for the wallpaper. They had such a great selection it was hard to choose. I finally decided to go with Thibaut Serendipity. I love it.

I also received these two beautiful flamingo prints from Eastwitching. The picture frames are from Pottery Barn.

One day I will replace the light fixture above the sink. I just haven't found the perfect thing yet. The faux bamboo mirror was a downeast find. It's originally from Williams Sonoma home.

My husband bought me this seahorse toilet bowl cleaner for our anniversary. I'm probably one of the only people in the world who would get excited about a toilet bowl cleaner as an anniversary gift. It's really cute and it goes really well with the bathroom.

So there you have it!! Thanks for all your help in making the final decision on the wallpaper.

What is the point of water efficient toilet suites?

What exactly is the point of water efficient toilets... when you have to flush twice???
Our caroma toilet is rated 4(WELS) and uses 4.5/3L of water. However, it takes 2 flushes to ... Get rid of stuff... And if you do a half flush after number one... By the end of the week the bowl (below water level) gets yellow (ewww).

Does anyone else have this issue with their water efficient toilets or are we the only weirdos? :)

Oh, and we don't use those bowl ducks that dispense the blue stuff or whatever... Should we?

How many bar stools for our kitchen island?

Should we go with 3 or 4 breakfast bar stools? How much space should we allow in between each stool? We've got around 2.5m to work with (excluding the sink end). The bar stools we want are 40cm wide.

The cushions represent stools :)

Ugly, dirty clothes storage in our new walk in closet!!!

Mr B and I have an ANTONIUS dirty laundry storage system which in the past we've kept in the laundry. However, since our bedroom is now upstairs it would be way too much effort to go downstairs every time we needed to chuck something in this little thing. So we've been keeping it in our ensuite/walk through robe.

Now, you may or may not remember that we still haven't got our walk through robe fitted out (or even designed for that matter), but Mr B has asked me to incorporate this little storage unit into our walk through robe design. At first I thought "No way! It will throw out the symmetry/layout that I had in mind and looks ugly!". But now I am really considering incorporating it (on Mr B's side of course!) since it could easily be incorporated into the "long hanging" section...

But because we want easy access to it, it will need to be right next to the ensuite door, which is premium space, and I really wanted drawers there.... Ughhh.... compromises!

What do you think? Have I completely lost my mind or what? :)

Thank you Lanne for suggesting this wonderful system!!!

How can we make our family room layout work?

Our family room is the space I want to furnish first. However, I've just realised that it is very akwardly shaped due to the huge sliding doors ... The two middle doors open outwards... The room is a part of the large open living space but on its own measures 5.1m x 3.6m (including the door). I've always imagined it with an L shaped modular but can it ever work? Or will we just need to get a 3 seater?

What about a coffee table? Can we even have one considering our sliding doors?

I look forward to hearing your suggestions as always :)

Feature Friday: A Little Glass Box

Today I am featuring the home of Courtney Schutz. She has a great eye for design. I love the eclectic feel her home has. Here is how she describes her style:

My style would be comfortable, partly traditional, and eclectic. We are a household that is ever changing. Between moving, having our little Olly Tate and our 2 waggly tailed friends...adaptability is key. I always approach style looking outside the box. I am not afraid to try anything because it can always be re-done. I am a diy fanatic and a sale shopping fool.  My favorite part of decor is feeling that the house embraces me and makes me feel at home.

Enjoy!

Thanks so much for sharing your home with us Courtney

Enjoy Black Friday! I am going to try and stay in my house and avoid the craziness.
