Open living - as it is

Thought I would take some photos of our open living as I haven't posted any since we acquired some hand-me-down furniture, such as the antique 3 seater, 2 armchairs, which are currently in our family room until we decide what to do with them. The round table we also acquired from MrB's mum will be painted white and will stay where it currently is in my photos below, in the meals area.

Our formal lounge we are currently using as a family room, as that's the only place that our current lounge configuration works in ...

Here I am standing in our future family room and what you see is meals, dining and then formal lounge (currently family) room:

Here, I am standing in our dining room and in front of us is our meals, kitchen and future family room (currently occupied by some hand-me-down furniture):

Opti-glass "pure white" splash back is in!

Yesterday, our glass splashback was installed. We ordered and paid for opti-glass in pure white. Stegbar have confirmed that what we got is in fact opti-glass and that this is as white as they can get it... For some reason it seems like there is a slight green tinge to it. What do you think?

Baby sheep skin rugs

My first blog post from my iMac beauty... I am still trying to figure out how things work by the way... but I'm getting there :)

But more to the point, I am after a baby sheep skin rug (or two) like the ones below, a real one... but not overly expensive... Any recommendations on places to get these from?

As we've got timber flooring in all the bedrooms, and with winter fast approaching, I would like something to keep by the bed...

Hope everyone is having a lovely extra long weekend :)

We've been decluttering all day ...  It's very satisfying... :)

Oh, and the kitchen splashback was installed this morning. However, against out Vivid White cabinetry it has a tinge of green even though we paid extra for the special glass (star fire I think it's called) so it could be pure white. What's up with that Stegbar? :S

Glass splashback - white or a shade of silver?

What glass colour would you recommend for our kitchen splashback? A pure white or a shade of silver/grey? I like both, but also have concernes about both :(

Pure White
  • I am affraid that:
    •  it might make the kitchen look too plain, especially if I continue being a lazy bum that I am and don't add any colour in the form of accessories/flowers :(
  • On the other hand I think white is more timeless and less likelly to date.
A shade of silver/grey
  • I am affraid that
    • it might date, and I will get bored of it too quickly
    • too much silver with all the appliances and knives, toaster, kettle if I decide to keep them there :(
  • On the other hand it might add some interest, especially if I continue being a lazy bum that I am in terms of colour/flowers/accesories.
What do you think?

What colour glass splashback?

Update: we went with a white starfire splashback.

Now that the cabinetry is almost finished I think it's time to get the splashback sorted out :)

What colour glass would you recommend? We don't want anything too out there. No mirror, no red, nothing over the top.

Would love to hear your suggestions :)
