Robe hook recommendation for the ensuite

I have realised that we really need some robe hooks in the ensuite. These our doors... and the panel in the middle is around 41cm wide...

I promise the door looks a LOT better in real life... bad photo & bad lighting :(
Our bathroom accessories such as the towel ring, toilet roll holder and towel rail are from the range below, and the robe hook from the same range is pictured in the top left pic:

Now, the question is, do we get the single robe hooks from the same range for consistency? (They also have some swivel robe hooks from the same range pic here, but to be honest I don't really like the look of it. Or would these below also work with our existing accessories? Would love to hear which ones you think are better.

Sink placement for our downstairs bathroom vanity

Thank you all for your feedback on my last post. I am leaning towards the tho long drawers option, but am still worried if 28.5cm on either side of the sink will be sufficient for a main bathroom...

The upstairs powder room is sorted, and it will just have two doors with a shelf inside.

But, there is still the downstairs bathroom which I am unsure about, and would love to hear your advice. The vanity is the first thing you see when you enter the bathroom and we've only got 1m to work with. There is a toilet on the left of the vanity and the wall is on the right...

Below are the three sink placement options I've outlined in one of our existing vanities.

  • Top: basin 10cm from the edge of the vanity on the left
  • Middle: basin pushed far left - provides maximum bench space on the right, for placing hair drying/change of clothes, but will this cause splashing on the left?
  • Bottom: basin centred - is symetric

PS. The "trial" plantation shutters for our home office/gym, and bedrooms 3 and 4 have now been installed and look fantastic. We are happy and will be ordering the rest very soon. YAY! Some progress at last :)

Main Bathroom Vanity Layout - Help!

We don't have a medicine cupboard above the vanity so some drawers are a must... Our undermount basin is huge so takes up a fair bit of the vanity space. Which one of the following options do you think LOOKS best and is the most FUNCTIONAL?

  • Off-center basin, with 3 x 100% usable drawers
  • Basin in the center of the vanity, with the top drawer being partialy usable due to the depth and width.
  • Two x 1.1m long drawers, top drawer being only usable in a U kind of shape (25cm around the basin). This option would cost $100 more than the other two options.
All the options have their pros and cons, and as usual I am having a hard time deciding. I would be love if you could help :)

This is what the top drawer would look like if we go with the 3rd option:

Shelves or doors for powder room and kids' bathroom vanities?

Firstly, thank you MadonnaKHeidi and BourbonandPearls for your comments and advice on my Buffet styling post.

And now for the drama....

We've still got three vanities left to get made and I would like to have them ticked off the list as soon as possible. But, I am not sure if we should go with drawers or doors. By doors, I mean a shelf in the middle. And by drawers I mean two drawers, one on top of the other.

The vanities we still need to get done are 720mm & 620mm long. One is in the upstairs powder room, and the other two are in the two kids/guest bathrooms (one upstairs and another one downstairs).

In an ideal world I would prefer drawers for the outstanding vanities. However, my concern with drawers is that the top one would be able to fit just a small amount of tiny bits and pieces since our undermount basins are HUGE and... well undermount. Also, they will be wall hung and 250mm of the floor meaning that they wouldn't be very deep. On the other hand, I think the drawers would make our vanities appear longer, which would be a good thing, as the two bathrooms are of generous size...

I don't mind the shelf in the middle, however, I think they can be annoying to use and find stuff that's at the back. Am I over thinking this one?

What do you think is more practical in kids bathrooms? Plenty of towel storage or lots of small bits?

This is our floor plans so you can see where the bathrooms and the other powder room are in relation to the bedrooms:

This for example is the upstairs bathroom.  There is room for potential storage against the wall on the left, under the window.

We've so far had two vanities installed, our 3m long ensuite one with plenty of storage and a 620mm one in the downstairs powder room. Both of these vanities have doors under the basin, and they work well at the moment. I've actually taken out the shelves from under all the basins, as we have plenty of storage in the ensuite, and in the downstairs bathroom, I don't keep much apart from the cleaning products and toilet paper.

And our vanity, with lots of drawers which is why I don't mind the doors under the basins. I've taken out the shelf out of one of them and use it for towel storage, and the other one is used for cleaning and beauty products etc.

Towel rails for our ensuite. Yay or nay?

I ordered the rest of the towel rings and toilet roll holders and MrB picked them all up yesterday. Thank you KL for helping me decide to get the same towel rings for the rest of the vanities! I also ordered an 800mm matching towel rail to see how it would look in our ensuite. I am not in love with the round fixtures, but at least it matches the toilet roll holder *shy* and the shower mixer. I originally wanted very square towel rails, but they are all heated, and it seemed like a waste of money buying them and then not using the heating feature...

So, what do you think of these rails. Yay or nay?

I don't mind them, but don't love them either. It's kind of a big decision though, as we need three for the ensuite, three for the upstairs bathroom, and one for the downstairs bathroom, so 7 in total. Which is why I am paranoid about making the wrong decision. Eeeeek.

This is the ensuite wall where we need the towel rails:

Towel rings, rails or hooks? Which do you prefer?

We recently had a towel ring pictured below installed in our downstairs powder room. I think it looks great. I would like to get the rest of the bathrooms finished and am however wondering if the robe hook or even a small towel rail would be more practical? I am particularly worried about the ones which will be in bathrooms that kids will be using in the future. What do you think? From both an aesthetic and practicality point, which do you prefer?

The towel rail below is 600mm long so probably a bit too long to be above the 600mm deep vanity? Would love to hear your thoughts <3 p="">

Target and Freedom glass canisters

Remember my Glass canisters for the laundry post? Well, I came across some in Target on sale for $10 each so I thought ... why not! They look great and I think I prefer them to the Freedom ones I bought for our ensuite some time ago. What do you think?

Ideally I would love a Large one for the regular laundry powder and would then use one of the Medium ones for the wooden pegs... But they didn't have any in stock :(

Fingers crossed I don't drop the lids any time soon :|

Bathroom styling. What do you think?

What do you think of my mood board for the ensuite so far:

* White rolled up towels in the wicker basket
* Cotton balls in the large glass canister
* Cotton buds in the smaller glass canister

Also, we keep all our towels under the basins. What do you think of using wicker baskets/trays for displaying rolled towels in, for our white vanity, white bench top and grey tiled bathroom? What colour would you recommend, white, acid wash, natural or black? What would be the best place to get these from?

Guess where I brushed my teeth last night?

No, not on our new bar stools :p

Our plumber finally managed to squeeze us in and installed the ensuite basins and mixers!!! - it feels good to be able to brush my teeth in the bathroom as opposed to the kitchen sink, which is what we had been doing for the past 6 months!!!

He also installed a bath spout in the main bathroom. But not the spa pump - boo hoo! I was really looking forward to a bubbly bath!

Our kitchen stools arrived and they look great in the kitchen! Will try and take some decent photos of both the kitchen and ensuite soon :)

Non wall-to-wall semi wall-hung vanities

All our vanities will be semi-wall hung... Which I am fine with for the vanities that stretch from one wall to the other. However, we've got a couple of vanities, which do not stretch from one wall to the other, but instead there are toilet suites next to them. So, do you think we should "indent" the "base" of our semi wall-hung vanities on the sides that are next to the toilet suites? Or not? Below are images of what I mean by indent and not indent :)
Not indenting the "base" would make it flush with the vanity on top.

Indenting the "base" on the side near the toilet suite.

Ensuite mirror is in ... sort of

The ensuite mirror has been installed... well sort of. One of the pieces was too big so they will trim it and come back tomorrow...

Caesarstone benchtops - do I have your approval? :)

Mr B was kind enough to go to a storemason on his lunch break and take some photos of our tile next to a larger piece of Organic White, which is the colour we are considering for all our vanities. Our splashbacks are tiled so I don't want them to clash :)

What do you think?

Will the two paterns clash?

PS. Those are not Mr B's hands :)

Our first shower screen ...

Our first shower screen was installed this morning. The downstairs powder room was meant to be installed too but it cracked as they were trying to glue it in *rollseyes*. so still no mirrors in the house... Oh and I almost had a mini heart attack when I got home. The amount of mud the installer left behind him is just nuts!!! Not happy Stegbar!!!

Final bath spout selection

Remember my last bath spout post? I still haven't purchased it and it is the only thing preventing me from using our beautiful spa bath :(. I have since found a couple more Methven ones which might possibly work. Should I go with one of the new ones:

Or should I stick with the one you all helped me choose last time?

Once again, here is our bath mixer:

About to finally order our vanity

What is the best angle to have the shadow line of the handleless drawers? I would also love to know what is the best width that should be left on top. My cabinetmaker is suggesting just a gradual angle but in the photo below it looks a lot sharper (as in the surface on top is a lot thinner). If anyone happens to have a close up or a side view of the handleless drawer I would love to hear from you :)

Which bath spout would you recommend?

I completely forgot about having to get a bath spout and we are now spout-less :(

What spout would you recommend? Our mixer is Hansa but I am not so fussed about a spout brand as long as it's good quality.

Would love to hear your suggestions :)

Handleless drawers - yay or nay?

I am seriously considering handleless drawers for our bathroom vanities (not kitchen though). What do you think of them? Do you think they will date quicker than any other handle? Are they durable? Would you recommend them for all 5 of our vanities? Are they ok for kids' bathrooms? Would love to hear your thoughts :)

Vanity benchtop colour recommendations

What CS colour benchtops would you recommend for our vanities? Our tiles are grey (as below) and our cabinetry will be white (Dulux Vivid White or pure white with no tint what so ever).

Handleless bahtroom vanities. Yay or nay?

Most of my favourite bathroom vanities have no handles (or shadow line handles). But I am not sure if I am game enough. I mean they collect dust and I have also heard that water can get into them. I don't really want to have to do any more cleaning than I already have to...

What do you think? Handles or no handles for our bathroom vanities?

Also, do I have to have the same style of drawers/handles in my adjourning walk in robe (in the case of our ensuite vanity)?

Shower doors - Handles

When it comes to shower doors, do you prefer handles or knobs? Which ones do you like?
