Climbers/creepers along the boundary fence - what are your thoughts?

I've been re-thinking the hedge along the boundary fence idea and am wondering why climbers along the colorbond boundary fences aren't common at all. In fact, I haven't been able to find any photos at all...

Are they likely to "destroy" the fence? Do they get into every tiny hole? Are they difficult to remove once they get "stuck?"

I don't mind the look of Summer jasmine (jasminum azoricum) and am wondering if this would be a good idea for along our fence near the driveway. What do you think?

Or should we instead go for perennials, shrubs or strappy plants?

By the way, the garden bed is only 400mm.
